Question by curious me: why bacterial vaginosis keeps on coming back every after my period?
this is the third month i had bacterial vaginosis. after my period i had this fishy smell that it is so disturbing. i have to wear a pad so not to scatter the smell on my pants. i always buy vaginal suppository. last time after several days i medicate myself, it coes back again. in a month i had it twice. then it will go, after period of next month, it will come back. i am not having sex with anyone. they say detect the root cause of bacterial vaginosis. i know i got this from my boyfriend few years back who i found out was having sex with different girls. now this is the root cause of my infection. how will i cure this without it coming back permanently? seems like any brands of vaginal suppository doesn’t work anymore even flagyl. what will i do? the doctor seems could not treat me. they will check, give medications for relief but it comes back. it makes me depress. thank you.
to ms. dominica, isnt flagyl a brand name for metronidazole? can u please be specific? thank you.

BV is not an STD! it is when your body has good and bad bacterial and the bad one takes over. STOP using vaginal suppository it only makes your BV worse..you can get it from smoking, not eating right. there is no cure for BV. sometimes after a few months it will come back. you’ll be fine watch what you eat and wrap it up. BTW I used Flagy it didn’t work. so my doctor gave me METRONIDAZOLE.. the real deal! I havn’t had BV since.

Yes, flagyl and metronidazole are the same thing. Believe me I have taken it enough to know. I think she meant metrogel. Which has less side effects but works the same as the oral pill. For me it did anyways. Last time I have bv I was given tinidazole. You take it for 5 days and it works good. BUT I have read antibotics are not always the best way to go. Have you tried natural remedies? They work really well. fem dophilus is the best way to go it’s a female probotic and it helps balance the good bacteria to take over all the bad bacteria. There is NO side effects and it’s all natural it’s basically has the same thing yogurt has in it (Lactobacillus). Also, they sell rephresh at drug stores my GYN mentioned it to me. Give it a try. The reason you keep getting it back or so my doctor explained was bc when a woman has sexual intercourse the sperm or sexual secretions cause the ph level in the vagina off balance and the same thing with your period. Basically, you keep taking antibotics but all it’s doing is killing the bad and good bacteria not really fixing the problem bc your need the good bacteria to concur the bad bacteria and have a healthy vagina.
