I have thrush, bacterial vaginosis AND a UTI. Help!?
Question by Em: I have thrush, bacterial vaginosis AND a UTI. Help!?
For several weeks I’ve had short bouts of cystitis which were flushed away by drinking several pints of water or using a Cystitis Relief Sachet.
I also started a new relationship 2 months ago and our form of contraception is the Pill (Jasmin) which I start using when we met. I am aware of my partners sexual history and he of mine – we have known each other many years.
I started to notice a soreness after sex in my Vagina which usually went away after a bath and sometimes a very strong odour after sex.
Last week things came to a head when after doing a run, my Cystitis was so painful I went to my Doctor who took a urine sample and a swab. She also prescribed me a 3 day course of Trimethoprim as a temporary measure and said it didn’t look like there was any thrush.
The results came back 5 days later and my GP said that I had a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) that was resistant to Trimethoprim, a lot of Thrush and Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). She prescribed me a 5 day course of Cefalexin (250mg 4 times a day), suggested I use a Canesten Pessary and Cream towards the end of my Anti-Biotic Course and also suggested that the BV may be linked to the Thrush and could possible go away on it’s own – but to phone the surgery if it didn’t so they could prescribe me with a further course of Anti Biotics.
It is now 5 days later and my symptoms are not getting any better.
My urethra and pelvis is constantly sore. I have to sit in the bath when I get a particularly bad bout of it to ease the stinging. Additionally, my Vagina is very sore and painful. I used the Canesten yesterday as today is my last day of Anti Biotics and it seems that the Canesten irritates my Urethra opening. I also find that using the external Canesten cream makes me too sore so have avoided it so far.
Additionally, 2 days ago when I was wearing slightly tighter clothes (I’m a musician and have to dress up for gigs), it was agonisingly painful and I had a lot of discharge, until I changed into looser clothes.
I feel like I’m doing as much as I can for this and nothing is getting any better.
I’m:
Drinking lots of Cranberry Juice
Drinking lots of Water
Resting
Wearing large 100% Cotton Briefs and very loose trousers, or nothing at all to get air to the area
Avoiding any scented toiletries
Eating Natural Probiotic Yoghurts
Using a hot water bottle when it is very painful
Not having sex
Avoiding fizzy drinks
The list goes on….
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m waiting for my GP to phone back again but I’m infuriated with the situation. I feel so uncomfortable and don’t know what to do.
This sounds silly but I feel as though this will never go away!
My entire groin is painfully sore

I found a site that explained how to permanently cure BV. The tips will also help with thrush. I’m not sure it UTI though.
I’ll leave a link to the site below.
hope this helps…
