How to have a SEX life while having bacterial vaginosis?
Question by Sweet Boss: How to have a SEX life while having bacterial vaginosis?
Okay. 3 years ago, I had unprotected sex with an older men. Shortly after, my vagina started omitting the foulest smell I’ve ever smelled in my life. It smelled like corroding fish and rotten crabs. I was devastated. Mortified and I cried myself to sleep. After my melodramatics, I went to the doctor and found out, I had BV or Bacterial Vaginosis. If you haven’t educated yourself on this, please do before making asinine presumptions. Any who, since then—I’ve struggled with recurring episodes almost every month. I’ve taken antibiotics, acidopholis and I take apple cider vinegar baths some days. Some months I go odor-free and my sex life isn’t effected. But an old partner of mines whom, we’ve been on again/ off again—recently told me, that he had fallen back from me sexually because he had “noticed” a difference in my scent down there. My first was reaction was feeling CRUSHED. But then I got angry because I was frustrated with this never ending problem. Though I am glad he brought it to my attention, I am embarrassed as this isn’t something I want to keep having to explain to every sexual partner. Women don’t ALWAYS smell like roses down there. He said, it wasn’t an ungodly smell but just different. I wouldn’t have sex if the smell was over-powering, I guess I just wish guys were more sensitive to the fact that women suffer from these kind of infections and it has nothing to do with neglectful hygiene.

you should talk to your doctor- i’ve heard of some women being plagued by that. it could be that spermicide or some other component of sex is throwing your pH levels off. they have a product called repHresh that is a vaginal gel that helps maintain proper pH. Also, has your partner been checked out? You could be passing the bacteria back and forth- I know that can happen with yeast infections not sure with BV. I mean it was really open of him to tell you so it might not hurt to make sure everything is on the up and up with him. Also, you might want to use a non scented feminine wash made specifically for washing that area. Some soaps can throw off your pH making u more susceptible. Also, what type of acidophilus are u taking. I suggest an enteric coated brand like natures way Primadophilus, Also, you may want to microwave your panties to make sure they are not harboring any bacteria or fungi and contributing to the problem. Good luck!

I suffer from the same problem. I started using a product called Rephresh it’s available without a prescription. It works very well. I suggest you start using it and understand that what you have is NOT an std. Please read more about this before you jump to conclusions.
